Which paper should you choose for business cards?

A business card is small, but it says a lot about your brand. In our old ordering flow you see two strong choices: Natural card (white 300g) and Card (slightly glossy, white 350g). The main differences are feel, appearance, and firmness.

Why paper choice matters

Business cards are often kept, passed along, and compared with other cards. Sturdy paper helps your card stay neat and immediately creates a polished impression.

  • Thicker paper feels more professional than standard print paper.
  • The finish determines whether your card looks calm, businesslike, or more eye-catching.
  • The right paper choice helps text and logo style match your brand more closely.

Natural card (white 300g)

Natural card is white 300gsm paper with a visible paper fiber. This gives your business card a very matte, natural appearance while the thickness keeps it firm.

  • Best choice for a calm, crafted, or premium matte look.
  • Well suited for business cards, cards, certificates, and posters.
  • FSC Mix, EU Ecolabel, and ECF; a good choice when sustainability also matters.

Card (slightly glossy, white 350g)

Card 350gsm is extra sturdy, off-white card paper with a light coating on both sides. The finish is more matte than glossy, but it gives colors slightly more strength than Natural card.

  • Best choice when you want maximum firmness for your business cards.
  • Suitable for business cards, cards, portfolios, and loose pages.
  • You can write on it, but the ink needs a few seconds to dry properly.
  • FSC Mix credit, EU Ecolabel, and ECF certified.

Which of the two should you choose?

  • Choose Natural card 300g for a very matte, fibrous, and natural appearance.
  • Choose Card 350g if you mainly want extra firmness and a subtle coating.
  • For clean professional business cards, both work well; the choice is mainly about feel and finish.

Single-sided or double-sided printing

  • Single-sided works well when you only need name, role, logo, and contact details.
  • Double-sided gives extra room for services, a QR code, social media, or a short slogan.
  • Keep both sides clean; a business card should remain quick to scan.

File tips for a clean print result

  • Use a sharp logo and images of at least 300 DPI.
  • Do not make text too small, especially phone numbers and email addresses.
  • Keep important text away from the edge for safe trimming margins.
  • Add bleed when color or artwork needs to run all the way to the edge.
