File preparation
How to prepare print-ready files for a predictable and clean final result.
Prefer a PDF whenever possible
A print-ready PDF usually produces the most reliable result. Page size, fonts, and element positioning stay more stable than in editable source files.
Export your design only after a final check on dimensions, page order, and bleed.
Use bleed and keep text away from the edge
Does your design run all the way to the edge? Then add bleed so you do not end up with white borders after trimming.
Keep important text, logos, and other critical elements away from the trim line so nothing ends up looking too close to the edge.
Check color mode and resolution
Use images with sufficient resolution for print, ideally around 300 dpi at final size. Low-resolution images often look softer in print than they do on screen.
Work in CMYK when possible or export a PDF intended for print. Keep in mind that RGB colors can appear differently on paper.
Fonts, lines, and transparency
Make sure fonts are properly embedded or converted during export. That helps avoid unexpected text shifts.
Avoid extremely thin lines or very small light text on a busy background. What looks readable on screen is not always ideal in print.
Final check before upload
Double-check the product, size, and quantity first. Then compare your file with the product-specific notes for flyers, business cards, or books.
