Choose paper and finishing with confidence
The best choice depends on what you are making, how it will be used, and the appearance you want. Start with its purpose, then compare weight, surface, and the finishing options available in the configurator.

Start with its purpose
Does someone need to write on it?
Start with an uncoated or natural stock. It is generally easier to write on than a heavily coated surface.
Are photographs and rich colours important?
A smooth, coated, gloss, or satin surface usually gives imagery and detail more impact.
Should it feel firm?
Compare heavier paper or card among the options for the selected product. Weight is one factor; texture and coating matter too.
Do you want less reflection?
Choose matte, satin, or uncoated rather than high gloss, especially for text-heavy designs or direct lighting.
What does paper weight mean?
Grams per square metre (gsm) describes how much the paper weighs, not its exact thickness. Within the same paper family, a higher weight usually feels firmer, but fibres, texture, and coating affect the result.
Surfaces at a glance
Uncoated or natural paper
Tactile, understated, and generally easier to write on.
Smooth or coated
A more even appearance and clear detail reproduction.
Gloss
A vivid appearance with more reflection.
Matte or satin
A balance between clear colour and reduced glare.
What does finishing do?
- Lamination adds a surface layer and changes appearance and feel.
- Rounded corners mainly change the shape and character of a card.
- Folding, binding, trimming, and contour cutting are product-specific.
- The configurator only shows the options available for the selected product combination.
Quick chooser
- Forms and notes: uncoated or natural paper.
- Photography and colourful promotion: smooth, satin, or gloss.
- A firm business card or card: card stock with a suitable available finish.
- A poster under direct lighting: matte or satin to reduce reflection.
